I am looking for a new Bottle opener to put on my key chain, I currently have a NiteIze doohikey. The Doohikey is OK looking but it struggles to open beer. I am looking to spend Under $20, I know that budget is very limiting, but if I find something I really love I am willing to spend more. The most important things to me are Function, and low profile. I have a ton of crap dangling from my key ring, so I need something pretty sleek that will ride nice in my pocket. Also It really needs to be able to open beer with one move, after all if you cant open a bottle with it, then what is the point? Finally form, I like the look of bare metal, titanium preferably, but at my price range I don't really care what its made of.

So lets see some pictures of what you carry/use and also some suggestion, we are spit-balling here, throw em' at me and see what sticks!

Thanks guys and galls!

I carry a DFK KCT in ti. They go for about $30 on the secondary market. This one has custom anno, but Mr. Fairly does different types of anno or stonewashed. Works well, is super thin and I don't even notice it added to my keys.

I have an Atwood Prybaby that was about $25 when I bought it but his stuff seems to be pretty expensive these days. Get a Brewzkey. Its less than $10, metal and looks like a key so you can't be more low profile than that. It seems to be more of a novelty, than a well crafted gadget, though. Frankly, the cheap .99 cent key chain ones work better than most of the neater gadgety ones but are no where near as cool.

I got a titanium opener with a flat blade screwdriver from Ben Tendick who is a knife maker on the forum. I's very compact and really comes in handy.

Most house keys will work well if used right, and is already there on you keyring. A Bic lighter works, as does a Sharpie marker, and a folded up dollar bill.

I have one of the original Tucans made by a member of this forum. I have used it for many years and it is great. I believe the maker has teamed up with a company now as I recently saw some commercial ones on some unrecalled site.

Cheap and effective...I have probably a half dozen of these laying around somewhere that were handouts from the state fair...

I do like alot of these suggestions, but I'm having a problem finding alot of these. It seems like a lot of the cool bottle openers where sprint runs that I just happened to miss. Like I can't find anything by Atwood. And the toucans that jw2n mentioned I can't even find a pic of.

Another idea, maybe try a SAK Rambler or Manager? The bottle opener isn't the best, but functional. Same size as the SAK classic (a little thicker), but gives you lots of other useful tools too.

Hate to say it, but the Gerber Artifact has some seriously good features, including the interchangeable, folding, locking X-acto blade, which is genius.

There are a handful of whiners out there stating that the blade deploys too easily, or not easily enough. Ignore them....they are weenies!

Opens beers like a champ.....super low profile

Retails for something around 10 bux.

Best Regards,

I have a LaRue Dillo on mine. Big, but can open damn near anything

I use the $16 Kershaw Shuffle that I keep on my keychain. Very small knife, but probably bigger and heavier than you're looking for but I can open bottles with it then after pounding a case, deploy the blade and shred the cardboard to throw in the recycling. :)

Those little "fingers" Rubicon_Joey posted certainly work well and are small and lightweight. Most of us have probably had a few from various trade shows and fairs and have long since forgotten and lost them. A Victorinox knife certainly works but isn't going to do it in a single "swipe". I had one built into the back of a Coors belt buckle years ago that worked very well. :)

Today, it's more of an impulse buy when you see the "right" one somewhere. I don't think I could find the one I have now if a tried. It was $4~$6 on the closeout rack at the grocery store.

Leatherman Brewzer. A fantastic bottle opener. I have this one and the original version before Leatherman acquired them. Great tool.

Thanks guys these have all been great suggestions, i got my hands on a few of the cheap aluminum claw openers that people give out, I'm going to mod them a bit, and see if i can make them look a little cooler. If that Leatherman Brewzer is truly a one swipe cap popper' than i might just go grab one of those.

I got this turtle as a gift a few years ago - it's fun and it works.

I have a PocketToolX Brewzer (which later became the Leatherman Brewzer) and it functions well enough. I keep it more for the pry abilities to save my knives.

Victorinox Rally SAK is cheap on the big auction site, not a popular model there but popular with advertisers.

There was a special Rally model with a T6 torx bit on the tip of the combo tool. It was made for Nokia and the torx bit fits the screws on most Nokia cell phones. That is my grail bottle opener.
