What does the group generally recommend for pivot lube/blade oil?

I’ve got a bug out that is just about perfect in terms of its action. It flicks open easily. It drops shut completely. And there’s no blade play. I’m hesitant to take that apart or change much with it right now.

I also have an Adamus, and I know that that steel is somewhat corrosive. So I’m interested in knowing if there is a pivot loop that can also be used to help reduce the risk of corrosion on that knife.

Let me know if you have a recommended product that you’ve had good results with in the past.

I use PTFE, like Tuff Glide, but others also. Even if the blade is treated with it, you shouldn't use it to cut food.

I use a silicone spray lubricant to lube the pivot. It goes in liquid, penetrates, then dries. Waterproof and lubes without attracting dirt. Easy to reapply as needed. I don't coat my blades at all, just the pivot, I like to be able to cut food

I use Hoppe's Elite because it's what I use on my guns. It has always served me well.

Remember when BM used to recommend Militec-1? I still have some of that. Nowadays I usually just used Hoppe's Elite, but I have a number of other options to use when the mood strikes me.

Thanks guys, I have a lot of PTFE around being a mountain biker. I use it on frame pivots after washing to flush water from the bearings. Maybe I’ll give that a go in the pivot and leave the blades alone.

KPL here. I have used Remoil in the past. To be honest I rarely use anything these days. I just take the pivot out wipe the gunk off the pivot and washers with a scotch bright pad.

Battleborn High Purity oil or the slightly thicker HP Pro. Or some Pro-Shot NXT CLP that is also non-toxic.

This is what I am using: Daiwa reel needle nose oiler. It served me very well.

I didn’t know Rem oil had Teflon in it. Tri Flow does for sure, and it dries a lot faster. It makes pivots slick as glass. I use Rem oil for my Microtech OTFs.

I bought Tri-flo since it was recommended by BM for my auto-Stryker. It’s worked for many years and I don’t baby my Stryker,
