Red Jacket Sword

Hi everyone.
If you watch Suns of Guns then you allready know Red Jacket is making what they call "The Samurai Machete".
I just wanted to know what you guys think about the prototype. Here are some pics

Price 250-300 (no its not released yet. this is just the prototype)

Personally I think its more of a fail of a wakizashi than a katana machete. I dont think they realized the machete looks the way it does for a reason. And i think they don't know to much about asian cuttlery since they put an american kissaki on it as if we could make flick cuts with it.
 
Not to mention the Tsuba would probably make for an awful balance point. I'll take the original. lol

I'd have to see tests of it to make any judgement, but what about that thing makes it worth $300? I feel like paying more than $50 for a machete is pointless.

I think its so when they do release it they dont get a truck load of people trying to buy one at once.

That also sucks. :p It neither performs well as a machete or sword due to poor distribution of mass. If you hold it like a sword the center of balance is in your top hand, taking all the force out of your blows and making handling awkward. Hold it on the end of the handle to give it some chopping ability then you get awful shock transferrence. At least it's cheap! :p

But yeah, this one doesn't look any better.
 
A few guys that know far more about firearms than I do , made a knife. I saw the show and raised an eyebrow here and there during the making of the sword , whatever.

They oughta stick to guns.

I'd get the cold steel version over the red jacket katana machete any day.Didn't see the full show but did checkout a couple of the clips.I was surprised that a gun person would be so confident that they could make a sword.

Knives + Swords = A Totally Cool Idea

Wonder what and if there's a warranty against accidental breakage.
 
With all the great under 50.00 machetes you can get why would you want THAT for 300.00 . Hell I can buy a pile of Imacasas for 50.00 and then get a few Condors with nice leather sheaths and still not hit 200.00.
