I recently found a REKAT Hobbit Warrior.....I think. All the specs seem to be right, but the "Round Eye Knife and Tool" logo is nowhere to be found on the knife. The model shown in the sniper country article shows the logo on the finger guard. The one I have is the blackened blade version......

Does anyone know how I could verify the knife's authenticity? Any help would be much appreciated!

As I can recall the blade on the REKAT Hobbit Warrior is five and a half inches long, most of the clones I've seen seemed to be more the size of the Al-Mar warrior if not a little larger and VERY clumsy handling, with very thin blades. The Hobbit Warriors also come with that really nice kydex sheath with a couple different adjustments on the belt clip. I don't recall seeing the clones done in Kydex. Chances are that the clones would be better marked than the real thing from what I can recall...*L*

If you've got the real thing, that's one heckuva nice knife. I had one and loved it, 'till I sold it a soldier that had more use for it than I did. Oh well...I guess we all move on. Now I have an eighteen inch kukri in the Hobbits former spot beside the bed.

Anyhoo, that should be worth a tiny little something. There's a heap of folks more knowledgeable than myself on the Hobbit Warrior, I imagine one of them will come wandering by eventually.

Blackbird,

Are you able to take some pics and either post or email them to me?
I'm not an expert but at the least, a disciple. I've adopted about 17 Hobbits since they were first available and currently have 7 (8 when another "adoptee" arrives) live 'Bits and 2 trainers. Some side to side comparisons would be a good start at determining its authenticity. If your knife has a blood groove or holes in the guard, it's most definitely a fake. Some simple things to look for would be how many "teeth" are on the spine. Are the "teeth" fairly sharp to the touch or more blunt? Do the troughs between the teeth alternate in depth and from side-to-side? Can you look through the pin hole on the pommel or is it sealed? Does the blade rattle in the sheath when the knife is shook? How's the fit of the knife to the sheath? It really takes some aggressive shaking to get one of my 'Bits loose from it's sheath even upside down.

If it is a knockoff, I hope you didn't get taken for too much $$$. If it's the real thing, I'm always looking for another! ;)
