It took me a while to find this thread, I am collecting the R- series 1-10, sort of, and have a few other Remingtons I enjoy carrying. The R-4 is the latest and a R-8 is on the way. When I get the 8 I'll be back to show them in order and ask some questions on variations.

Cheers,

Question, does anyone know why camillus only had a swedge on the show side on knives with swedges?

EDIT: never mind, found it.

The 3 and 5 spot are not R-# designated but are representative of the the type of knife. I have seen some r-5 (gentleman's knife) stamped tangs that have derlin covers and some with embossed metal like the example shown. Are both original or did one come out before the other?

Thanks,

These are different models. The original R-5 had Delrin handles. R-5W (R-5M) - brass handles. Two 175th Anniversary models: RC15M - copper color and RS15M - silver color.
They were all produced at the same time.
My photos of all these knives are in this thread.
