My black anodized aluminum handle had a run in with my pocket change, and it acquired some silvery blemishes. I initially thought they are scratches. I did some search online, and one of the method of refinishing is to clean it with mild abrasive cleaner. This is because black anodized aluminum surface is porous and hard; so the blemishes are other materials deposited onto the aluminum.

Long story short, I used pencil eraser to rub off those blemishes.

Hope this tip will be useful when this post comes up on your search for help with this problem.

Don't have the knives in front of me, but was wondering if this will work on knives like the Benchmade 940 and 707?

As long as the anodized layer wasn't truely worn down to bare aluminum, eraser should work. It only pickup whatever was't firmly attached to the handle. Like I said, most blemishes are exterior materials that got deposited onto the scale through rubbing. The anodized aluminum are aluminum oxide, same as what you find in some sharpening stone. They cut the material they come into contact with, and the debris was retained in the porous surface.
