Hi everyone,

I'm having a bit of trouble removing the burr on my H-1 salt SE. When you cut the burr off. I can get it decently sharp, but it wouldn't push cut what so ever.

Any help would be appreciated.

I use the Sharpmaker to raise a burr by sharpening the scallops until the burr is raised, and then use the minimum angle, basically as close as flat to the stone as I can get and still remove the burr, to remove the burr from the backside. The last knife I did this on was a passaround Caly 3, and it would pushcut newsprint and the yellow pages well away from the point of hold.

I use a 3 inch bench grinder with a cotton buffing wheel and some micro compound this does not sound like it would work but for some reason it does. I have used this method on all types of steel with shaving sharp results even though it does not have the same effect on stright edges. another product i have been wating to get is this http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?FamilyID=220
