Replacement band Citizen Skyhawk

I have had a Citizen Skyhawk for a number of years. The steel bracelet has broken for the second time and I am not eager to pay the jeweler $80 for a replacement. On this watch, mostly due to relatively small wrists, I have not been overly fond of the steel bracelet and am considering other alternatives.

This is my EDC watch and needs to be appropriate for wearing in court and court as well as knocking around in more causal settings. I have a beater watch for really physical activities such as shooting and yard work. I am very understated in my apparel and do not like things that are flashy or overly tactical in appearance.

So, my questions are:

1. What other types of bands do you recommend? I have seen Maratac Zulu bands on some other watches and thought they looked classy enough for my needs. Are these good bands? I don’t want to drop a lot of cash on another band but I would rather invest in a quality band than a cheap one that will not last.

2. Does anyone happen to know the lug width on this watch? I think it may be 24 mm but I don’t have the watch at my disposal to measure.

Thanks for any suggestions, and especially pictures, you might have.

All I can comment on is the Zulu bands rock! I have two bands, one for each of my watches...one is everyday and one I wear when I work. Can't say enough good about them. Black for dress up, OD Green for work!

When I had my Skyhawk, I couldn't find a non-metal band. Even calling Citizen didn't help. I eventually sold it since I hate metal bands...

I have a Blue Angels Skyhawk. I bought a Zulu band for it but I couldn't get the old leather band off. Took it to a jeweler and was told that due to the pins it wasn't possible to go with the Zulu band. I had to order a larger leather band from Citizen direct. The jeweler said the pins were curved and needed the structure of the band stay put. Anyways, since I couldn't finagle the pins myself, I accepted his explanation. I don't know if it will be the same for your watch but you might want to check it out before you buy a new band.

Here's a page that might help with the lug sizes

+1 for Zulu bands, I've used them for years. They can get dirty/smelly if you sweat a lot, but a little liquid soap and a old soft bristle toothbrush clean them right up.

If you're the DIY(do-it-yourself) type, you can make your own watchband with paracord. Plenty of knot variations to make them in. Here's an adjustable version I made:

The Waterborne straps are excellent...You might want to Google-search that and take a look.
