I purchased a Jet 708015 JSSG-10 Slow Speed Wet Sharpener last week. I sharpened one kitchen knife straight away, and pondered on the results for a week.

Today, I sharpened two pocket knives.

Verdict? Mixed feelings. Not ecstatic working with the water mess. However the water does capture the filings, and cool the blade.

Results are pretty good, for kitchen knives. Gets blades very sharp. It does not leave an edge that would impress a picky person, looking for exacting details, like you get with some jig sharpeners.

Speed? Fastest system I have used yet. Several (8) passes on the wheels, and you are done. Does degrees from 10% a side, to infinity.

Built in leather wheel strop. Gives a mirror shine. (4 of the passes)

Cost? $315 from Amazon. Free delivery, 2 days, with amazon prime.

Hacks I have learned so far? Sharpen with the wheel spinning away from you.

The system is set up to sharpen with the wheel cutting into the knife edge. Doing I this way is very aggressive, and de not give as clean a bevel.

It is a simple mater of using the jig arm on the front of the machine.

I will be sing this sharpener to work Gnn shows .

Final thoughts, worth the money, if you want sharp knives and other tools, fast.

I forgot to mention, if you want a primary and secondary edge, that can be easily done by using two support arms, front and back. One arm can be the primary, and the other arm can be the secondary.

I hope my comments here won't be construed as a "thread Hi Jack". None intended. I recently bought a very similar Wet Grinder from Grizzly called the "Anniversary Edition" of their 10" Wet Grinder. $169.00. from Grizzly. One nice advantage I see in the Jet machine is the oversize water trough. On the Grizzly grinder, If you are working on a longer knife, water will run off the knife and onto the bench. Tormek makes a nice oversize trough but it won't fit the Grizzly. Rats. I also bought the accessory package consisting of a large and small knife holder, a scissor jig and a ax jig. I'm returning the Accessory pkg to Grizzly tomorrow because of serious quality issues. Even without the quality problems I wouldn't recommend the accessory pkg. I also own a Tormek Knife Jig and a Angle Gage. Tormek attachments are top quality although at a much higher price point. I'll pay the extra, it's worth it. Aside from a few problems with the Grizzly Wet Grinder, it is a good machine. I've sharpened quite a few knives with very good results. I'll keep the grinder and get my accessories elsewhere with what I saved on the purchase price. A side note pertaining to NRA's comment about having the JET machine set up for a primary and a secondary angle at the same time, If you do this, you will see a difference in the scratch pattern because of different cutting direction relative to the wheel. The Wet Grinder is a welcome addition to my shop.
