has anyone bought a random leek yet, if so please right what you think about it, i might get one.

I have 4 of the CKT plain edge Leeks that are no longer made. It has been my EDC every sence I got it. The S30V blade rocks. The coating on the blade can take a beating and still hold up. I've had no problems with it at all. I work in the carpet industry as a machinist and it gets used really hard. I cut boxes, yarn, plastic, plastic straps and on and on. I even used it to open a can of beef stew that the tab broke off on me a few days ago. That's the only thing that really went through the coating so you can acually see the metal. The only reason I'm not EDCing it right now is that I have a new ZDP Leek I'm loving. The Random is still in great shape. So if you want a knife that holds up year after year of hard use....Buy one, you want regret it.

I never realized they made a plain edge version of the original CKT Random. I have the serrated version of the original CKT Random from June 05- it is a factory 2nd taht had some minor scuffs on the frame, function is unaffected. The serrations are very aggressive (and very sharp), they can tend to snag a bit in some fiberous material;the scalloped serrations on the new Randoms look to be more user friendly. I like the blade design, the reverse tanto tip seems to hold up better in hard use than the standard Leek (at least in my experience). Kershaw seems to do a good job with s30v, it takes and holds a very keen edge; all the Kershaws I own with this steel perform well, no chipping problems. Mine is sharpened on a sharpmaker, and will pushcut notebook paper with no problem. The action is smooth and fast, frame lock is very secure, zero blade play.

Overall, I'd recommend this knife highly. I would probably prefer the newer serrations to the older style, but it's a very good knife in either configuration.

Also just wanted to note, I read in one of the threads where Kershaw may have the plain edge Random Leek ready to ship by the end of the month are the 1st of next month. Oh, on the plain edge CKT..I think I bought my last one in 04-05. None of the blades are stamped so I don't know the manufacturing date.

I was trying to think of when I got my PE CKT Random. Couldn't. But I'm glad I got one before they went out of business.

I haven't seen any of the new Randoms, but if they're like the old ones they're a good knife. Get one!
