What is U2X Steel? This knife was made in Seki Japan, and looks like a CS Trailmaster bowie.
Thanks!!!

I don't know the steel.....but isn't "Rigid" a United brand ?
If so, the 2 in U2X is ,possibly from J2 as in 420J2.
Just guessing.

Yes Rigid is a United brand, but Rigid knives are made different places of different steels. I have a 5 1/2 inch Rigid stockman, it's got beautiful stag handles and is made in Germany. The current Rigid pocket knives are made in the USA of 440A. I was hoping the bowie was made from something better than 420J2, but that may be wishful thinking... The U2X may just be the model number, as they have the habit of putting it on the blade.
Thanks Brian!

Just been checking some catalogs..seems the Rigid knives have IDs starting "RG..."
Just about all of the Rigids listed have 420J2 steel. But the catalogs are all 3-5 years old.

BTW, there is no knife listed that looks like a Trailmaster....yours may be a special case or a newer model. Steel could be anything. But most companies are gonna brag if their steel is better than average. United does not hesitate to highlight the handfull of their knives made with steels superior to J2 (like ATS34 and 440C).
