RIP Peter Steele

Peter Steele from the band Type O Negative has passed away

Multiple sources are reporting that Type O Negative lead singer/bassist Peter Steele has passed away at the age of 48 from heart failure.

Steele’s death was faked in 2005, but it appears to be true this time around.

Type O Negative was one of the most famous goth bands, and Steele was known for being a giant man with a deep voice.

He also gained some notoriety for having appeared in Playgirl back in the mid 90’s.

Steele struggled mightily with depression and substance abuse. But, in recent interviews it seemed that he had turned his life around.

On a personal level, it’s nothing new for the lead singer of my favorite band to die. Now the lead singers of both of my all-time favorite bands are dead (the other is Kurt Cobain of Nirvana).

I hope you’ve finally found peace, Pete.

I have had the privilege of meeting Pete on several occasions on the local music scene and venues here in Northern NJ. Not only did he have a voice that thundered like the gods but he was one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet.

I raise my bass guitar to you in honor.

RIP Pete. You will be missed.

Gotta admit I'm a bit jealous Ken. I got to see Type O live several times, once at the Warfield here in San Francisco which is nice and small, really personal show, but never got to meet him.

Peter Steele has been at the top of my list of brilliant metal artists for many years now and I'm already missing him being around writing music.:(

Rest in Peace

RIP Petrus

Met him many many times at their shows and lots of other venues for other shows. Partied a bit too hard I guess?

Saw him when he was in a band called Carnivore back in the 80's. USA for USA !!! :)
RIP man.
