I am wondering if there is a difference between a regular griptilian ordered with S30V steel and the ritter griptilian in S30V. I see the blade looks a bit different but wondering if there is anything else??

Thanks!

Just the blade shape/grind. Oh, and the finish is different. The Ritters are a nice stonewashed finish.

The only difference would be the blade shape and finish (stonewashed) if you go with a S30V custom from Benchmade. I prefer the blade shape of the Ritter, as you still get a strong blade but with the higher grind it slices a little better (but it could be in my head). I think part of the sale of the Ritters goes to a Survival Training Organization too.

I like the blade shape and stone wash of the Ritter. Carry mine all the time. Now, to decide if I want to put some custom scales on it.

I put some Cuscadi scales on mine, but the Ritter developed a little blade play with them on for some reason. I've since reverted back to the stock scales and actually prefer the feel of them, and the lack of blade play of course.

They do share one thing in common, with Benchmade's new price fixing policy they're both about 30% more expensive.

Incorrect on both counts. You could never use a coupon with the Ritter grips, and KW is still accepting a coupon on other Benchmades.

They are also available in a Black Coated Finish. I prefer stonewash but I have all 4 - big, little, stonewash, black. I really like the Ritter Grips. The blade design makes for a very nice slicer.

Ritter for me hands down. :D

Of coarse!
Make it yours. ;)

Wow. Those are very nice. I have a couple of Wilkins Grips, but sure wouldn't mind adding something like that to my collection. I have a stonewashed Ritter full sized grip just begging for a custom set of handles.

Are those your work? If not, would you mind mentioning the maker? Thank you. :)

Thanks guys...I have a couple regular sized griptilians and mini's with S30V steel. I got the mini grips for 95 bucks a piece so I'm not looking forward to paying the extra money for the ritter grip but I might buy one to see the blade difference. Is there anything special about a stonewash blade or just for looks?

The blade markings on Ritters are on the opposite side than regular BM's.

On normal BM's the butterfly logo, USA and the model number are on the left side and the designer and blade steel markings are on the right, on Ritters the butterfly is on the right and "Ritter" and S30V are on the left.

The Ritter blade shape is designed to be better suited for a survival situation (for batoning and such) then the standard grip blade shape is.
After all that what Mr. Ritter is all about, right?
As it turns out the wide cord and big belly are appealing for EDC use also.
I first chose Ritters for these reasons in addition to wanting the LE models that were previously produced in higher grade steels such as M2 & M4.

All me :D

I actually prefer the MDP blade on the standard grip better than the Ritter grip, so I were you and already had S30V grips I wouldn't buy a Ritter...

I like the Ritters...
