I have been looking for a new pair of hiking boots. I do a great deal of fishing and have been looking for a good waterproof boot that is higher than normal hikers. I like the look of the 8 in. height. I saw these and they look nice. Anybody have any experience with Rocky boots? Or these in particular? Reviews seem good.

Basically I am looking for a boot where I could walk through a stream that was a few inches deep and not get wet. And I don't want a camo boot. I have found tons of great looking boots, but everything is real tree. Am I the only one who doesn't wnat to wear camo?

I understand this is an insulated boot, but I would plan on wearing these year round. Do you think that would be an issue? In the fall and spring a warm boot would help. This boot is in my price range and I can't afford cold and warm weather versions.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I've owned a few pairs of rocky boots over the years, and I have been happy with them. The quality is still relativley good even though they make them in china now. I don't know if you could wear them in the summer with 95 degree temps since they are 800 grams of thinsulate. I'm sure you can wear them most of the year, except for the extremely hot summer temps.

Thanks. The brown version (the one I want) is only 400 grams of insulation. They make an 800 and a non insulated as well, but alas, only in camo. Kind of ridiculous if you ask me. I figured 400 grams would be ok for all seasons. Wear warm socks in the winter and light ones in the summer. What do you think? 400 grams doable in the summer?

I think 400 grams won't be a problem in the summer. I wore boots with 400 grams of thinsulate in the summer and they tend to breath pretty good. You should be fine in the winter with a thick pair of wool socks if your not sitting for several hours.
