Dear Benchmade fans of customisation. Checking in with the community to see if anyone has had difficulty ordering from them.
I recently ordered scales from Rogue (a gift for my father's 80th birthday- carbon fibre for mini bugout - trying to give him an alternative to his heavy buck 110), AimFront (ordered ready for Xmas - for bugout) and Cuscadi (wanted to revamp my Griptilian with vintage micarta).
I ordered from Rogue, then Cuscadi followed by AimFront. All orders have arrived except for Rouge. They were available on the website at the time order and were for at least a couple of months after I submitted the order in mid August when payment was accepted.
I have never received a shipping notice. I did contact Rogue through email after one month as I understand things have been difficult through the pandemic and Rogue does state that order may take up to five additional days. At the one month mark I thought a gentle question would be okay.
I received a reply five days later stating that they would check on it, I responded that would be great.
Waited another month....
No reply
Waited another two weeks (end of Oct) sent another friendly email saying I was getting worried, I had sympathy for small business and explained that this was a gift for my fathers' 80th and I wanted him to try something personal from me that was very different than his Buck 110. His birthday was mid Nov could they deliver for then.
Received a reply a couple of days later stating that my emails had gone to spam and they would check on my order. I replied stating that it explains things, I was getting worried and appreciate them looking into this for me.
It was my fathers' birthday a couple of days ago. No scales. I presented him with the min-bugout and explained that I had planned to customise it for him for the scales had not arrived. I promised him I make it right for Xmas. He liked the idea of the knife but was not taken by the orange scales, he's is keeping it ready for the upgrade and continues to carry the big 110.
Emailed Rogue on Nov 17th with the story of the Xmas commitment that I made to my father and have asked if they can supply by that date which I hope that they can as everything that I have heard about their product is good. I also stated that if they cannot meet the commitment to cancel the order so that I can meet my promise with an alternative. So far no answer.
All of the communication was handled by replying to the order confirmation email so it should standout in any email inbox.
I do not want to purchase another set of scales without receiving the funds from the original purchase as this add up to a huge cost for a mini-bugout but if I don't have a way forward soon I'm likely to miss my Xmas promising to the old fella.
I expect that most folks have had a great experience with Rogue and that I am in exception. Just wondering if that is the case.
I've posted in Benchmade as I wanted to share with a smaller group. I've been a member here since 2005 and collecting knives for a couple of decades longer than that. This is the first time I've had an experience like this (other than Canadian customs seizing Benchmades purchased from US suppliers).
