I tried sharpening my x-ray vision last weekend. I have a few questions:

(1) what is the inclusive angle of the edge? I used my edge pro and set it at 40deg inclusive and even that was too low an angle. Ron, what is the factory angle for the edge?

(2) I had problems sharpening the tanto point - I took out more of the coating on one side of the blade then the original. Is there a neater and better way to sharpen the tanto edge?

I would've used my sharpmaker, which wouldn't have taken more coating off - but it didn't match either the 30 or 40 deg inclusive on my sharpmaker.

Hi Spyken,

I don't use a Sharpmaker (actually, I don't sharpen my own knives), but I can tell you that our knives are all hand ground. This makes each one a bit different. Our goal is 22-25 degrees. We recommend following the existing grind of the knife unless you are reprofiling the knife to meet your needs.
