If this has been asked before sorry, but who is Rowen and what is there history. Have they made knives for other people or were they started by people split from another company??

Rowen manufactures the knives for ESEE. Per the ESEE website, the partnership with Rowen was just another step in their made in the USA philosophy. As you can tell by the knives, Shon and crew have great attention to detail and make a great product.

I've heard Rowen also makes a lot of the blades for TOPS knives, but I don't know that for a fact.

That's what I'd been told. Thanks for confirming that, Mrs. S! :)

I'd be interested in knowing who makes TOPS now.

Other than tops, what is the back ground of Rowen?? Is it a secret? They make great knives and for them to be an unknown and only have made for tops and put out the quality knives they do, rowen must have some deeper background than that! People on this forum have to know?

Rowen makes knives for some other companies. It's not a secret on Shon's end, but rather some of the companies that he makes blades for would rather not have that info public.

Shon and TOPS have parted ways and, as far as I know, TOPS makes their own blades now.

ESEE just likes to keep it all upfront and is very proud of our partnership with Shon and Becky. Top quality products made here in the states.

well i guess i wont get the answer. we know all the history of other makers, history of esse, but not rowen. guess i will have to live with it.

Ok fine, I'll out him. He actually crafted the one ring, for Lord Sauron. Thats the big mystical secret. Rumors were going around about the forging of Excalibur....But I'm not so sure about that one.

Rowen makes a great blade, the RC line demonstrates that. I would imagine advertising Rowen made knives could potentially increase sales of those knives also, knowing how well Rowen blades are made. Why keep it a secret??

Because knife manufacturers make agreements with their suppliers not to disclose corporate information.

Yep. They're afraid that customers might not respect them as much if the costumers knew that the brand didn't manufacture it's own stuff and had to outsource.

Guys, to me you have all missed what Im asking. All Im asking is who is shon rowen? What is his story? If you look on most makers sites you get how they started, background etc. We all know that you can't go direct to rowen and get knives! Im not asking for his address and phone number. Just that with the quality that these knives are, he (shon) has to have a background in making knives and was just asking what it was? How hard is that? I don't see the harm and if they have something to hide then we need to know it. If they did not want rowen to get credit for making the knives then why put rowen on the knives to start!

I'm not sure what your asking needs to be answered ? have you used ESEE Cutlery ? the Quality is there beyond that what does it matter is what I am asking ?
email/pm shon and ask him he is a member here
