Which .22LR rifle would you prefer for survival? The Ruger 10/22, the Marlin 795, or the Marlin 60? Also what type of ammo would you stockpile?

Ruger makes fantastic products, have owned a few (sr22, which I think you may like)

With that said, the 795 was my wifes bush gun for her first and she loved it, and to be honest, it was a blast. (pun intended)

It shot straight everytime, no jams, It was somewhat light, but I enjoyed it.

Since you're asking about semi auto's, the Ruger 10/22. I've got 1 and love it. For survival practicality, I've got a Springfield Armory M-6 survival gun, best $200 I ever spent.

You really can't beat the Ruger 10/22. As far as ammo selection goes...I'd look seriously at the CCI Velocitor. I've had great succes with it on various animals.

I have a Papoose and love it but my vote goes to the 10-22. They simply work great right out of the box and with all the aftermarket supplies out there, you can customize the 10-22 to your personal needs, wants, and desires. My preferred ammo is CCI Mini Mags in solid or hollow point. The bulk stuff works for the range but when I grab the gun for real use, it is the CCI in the chamber. The stuff is spendy as 22ammo goes but it works. I have never had a dud or had it cause a malfunction in my guns.

10/22's are great but for true survival without having to defend myself with a .22lr I would rather have a bolt action like a CZ 452. Having that semi-auto feature can make you waste ammo.
There are very few moving parts on a bolt action so it is easy to maintain.
But I am thinking of building up a .22LR upper for my AR anyway.

@Bill Siegle - Interesting that you chose the 10/22 - a great little rifle, no questions about that. Does the Papoose not function well? Are there prob's that require smoothing out/refinement?

Much more of a fan of bolt 22s these days. The autos just jam too much for my taste. My 10/22 is a fun gun but I don't trust it to go bang every time, even when clean and with good ammo. I'm too cheap to buy the fancy high velocity ammo although it does cycle somewhat better. When going out to hunt I always pick my CZ-452 nowdays. The 10/22 is fun but just not all that great if you ask me.

My ammo of choice is usually Winchester hollowpoints. The kind that come in a "brick."

I have a bolt action Marlin in .22 Magnum already... Trying to decide on a semi-auto .22lr.

Out of the list I would choose the Marlin 60. Great inexpensive gun that will eat just about everything. If you don't have to have semi-auto go to some pawn/gun shops and look for some of the older Mossbergs. I have quite a few different models but the 42 or 46B make great field guns. Most come with a peep site but have a rail for mounting a scope if you want. Most Ive found were dead nuts accurate out to 100 yards. They made some target rifles as well but they are a little bulky for carrying around all day. They are also fun to refinish and they are cheap. Blued and Walnut, doesn't get any better! Of the guns out now the CZ is the way to go as others have mentioned. Great stocks and you won't have to upgrade anything for an extremely accurate rifle.

I'd go with a lever action.
I lean towards the lever actions for the fairly high capacity magazines vs bolt guns & reliability over the semis.
Not that the 10/22 isn't reliable,I could put a brick through mine before it started malfunctioning, but I just love the slab sides & ease of carry of a lever gun.

My Papoose functions great but for me I prefer my 10-22 over it for many reasons. Some of those reasons might only be important to me but I like the aftermarket features I have added to my Ruger. Also I like the extra weight of the Ruger. Might not be a bonus for carry, but for me it sits more stable when I fire it. That being said I don't see my Marlin going up on the sale block anytime soon :)

When you say "survival" what do you actually mean? Truck stuck in snow and may have to spend the night or week? So this .22LR would stay in your truck or what? Trying to determine a mission profile before one can choose the tool for the job.

I chose the 795 over the 10-22 due to its lighter weight and cost. They are both accurate.

Ive got a Marlin 60 that my was passed down to me after my dad died. Its nearly 40 years old and still shoots a single ragged hole at 50yds over and over again. Its downside is that it jams once or twice every tube-full of rounds fired. I love the magazine-tube as it will never get lost, and holds a respectable 13 or so rounds. When it comes to .22LR autos, they will always be finnicky. A bolt will always be reliable, but you lose that quick follow up shot for those small, fast moving varmints.
