When Dave was at the party him and Habbie were going thru boxes of sheaths....and found one I cant find the knife for. It's black leather with fancy gold lettering stamped 'Rumple Minze' witch turns out to be a German 100% liquor...It's stamped 112 and looks like a 1980's era sheath. Iv'e looked over ALL my 112 info and can find no referance to it at all...It might be a european issue [like the Wrangler 432/112 here] send in a coupon ect.. Has any one seen this knife??? Well,I have a sheath!

I've drunk it...It's available here, in fact, the US is the primary market...

I like Schnapps, usually have a bottle of Butterscotch Schnapps in my fridge (like now)...I only drink real sweet liquor...I have Sloe Gin as well...

I love Aka-Dama [red] Cherry Wine too, but no one imports it anymore... :(

Clint, no Rumple Mint sold in Germany and no Rumple Mint Buck Knife availabel in Germany. The connections to Buck seems to be a marketing activity from the American Distributor. Here's the original text from Scharlachberg:

Sehr geehrter Herr Noll,

I don't think that it helps, please ask Joe, may be that he knows more.

Best,
Haebbie

Wow. I haven't heard of Aka-Dama since Yokosuka in 1967. We used to call it "Aka-DOO" and get it in huge bottles we called "Forty-pounders."

"What did we do last weekend?"

"Idunno......last thing I remember was when we started on that Forty-pounder."

Clint, I translated it for you!! Minze, the German word means mint in English (as I know). ((I didn't think that I would ever work as a Decoder Ring:cool: :D :foot: ;) :) ))

Best,
Haebbie

I remember the Aka-Dama in the big bottles we called "typhoon bottles" because it would take you one typhoon to empty one.

Taxi 100 yen and I think there were some smaller taxis for 80 yen.

Cigarettes 15 cents a pack in the machines, 12 and a half cents at the Exchange by the carton......a pack of Pearl cigarettes would cost 100 yen on the beach (it was horrible to run out and have to smoke those things).

Drinks were 25 cents at the club and you could get fifth of Canadian Club for about $3 at the package store.

Bought my first 110 in 1969 on Guam and I'm sure it cost me $22 to $24 at the BX at Anderson AFB. Seems high, but that's what I remember.

Can't remember what those giant bottles of Aka-Dama cost.

I don't recall any giant bottles...The ones I bought were a bit larger than the size of a Nehi bottle; same general shape...

Taxi from Koza or Kadena to Camp Hansen = $5...telling the driver there was an extra $5 in it for him if he made it in under 20 minutes...priceless... :D
