S&W Folder too tight

I have a S&W SWAT folding knife with a thumbstud, but it takes a lot of pressure to open this knife one-handed. As I have read from numerous websites, this thumbstud is supposed to make one-handed opening quite easy. How could I lessen the tension of the blade so opening requires less force? Do I need a kind of hex-screw to untighten a part of the knife? Where could I find it?

This one?

Loosen the screw closest to the blade (the one with the biggest head). Please, use the proper tools. when doing this. You may have to have two tools, one to hold one side, and another to loosen.

Its usually the same with all folders. Or atleast similar.

I recomend that you get a new knife. Perferably anything but a Smith & Wesson. Before too long, it's edge holding ability will be shot and you're going to miss some screws.

AH, thanks for the advice guys. I'll get a new knife as soon as this one breaks, since I'm on a low budget and all. Plus, collecting knives is more of a hobby. I only "use" my throwers.

My first post here, been lurking around since yesterday. Knifeclerk is 100% on the money. I was given a S&W SWAT 1st Production Run and within a month both rear screws had fallen out and I had to get bigger screws, which just ended up popping out a couple days later. As for the edge, it's crap, 100% crap. Anyways, just thought I'd add my 2cents. :barf:
