Safety gloves

I usually wear gloves when whatever I am working on can hurt me... e.g. fiberglass, wood with nails/screws/splinters sticking out of it, lots of thick, dirty, cardboard. I usually just wear a pair of leather work gloves from the hardware store. Funny thing, some retired wood workers I've met were without pointer fingers... although they were working with power equipment.

I wear gloves for some yardwork and for carpenter work to protect my hands from cuts, splinters and blisters. I really don't like to wear gloves unless I have to. For handling my knives I don't have any problem but I'm careful when sharpening edges. I've done quite a bit of putting new scales on fixed blades and for that I definitely tape up the blade so that I don't have to worry about wearing gloves, but sometimes I wear gloves when using my small belt sander.
