A s110v, Midnight Blue or Blurple Micarta Street Beat would be amazing.
If it needs to be a lightweight version that's fine just make sure its a satin blade.
alright that's my Spyderco Dream right now...

thanks

Did Michael Janich ever discuss a Street Beat trainer with you? he mentioned it on the boards around 2010 I think...

Yep, the SB is pretty much my all time favourite edc fixed blade. Too bad they stopped making the Micarta one because it is an absolute heirloom quality jewel of a knife. The Lightweight is also awesome but the sheath it comes with dulls the edge like crazy.

Check out the White River Backpacker pro (g10)or White River Caper (contoured fixed scales). They are both the same knife and both very similar to the Street Beat but in s35vn and with an even better sheath than the one that comes with micarta Street B. (Which is already an excellent sheath)

One of these is my next fixed blade purchase

Those look really nice! The problem is right now the SB could be favorite EDC, so I wanna stick with it. If you can, please post comparison pics with a SB if you get one of those White Rivers. They look close to the Spyderco, but I want a SB upgrade!

I would be happy if it was offered
UNCOATED.

There is an uncoated Street Beat they just don’t make it anymore.

Ok I will. I have spoken to several Street B fans who were very much in love with the Backpacker.

I don’t have any of the SB next to the Bpacked but this might help you judge the size. It is a little smaller with only a 3 inch blade.

The only thing is that the Backpacker grip is not as filling in the hand as the Street Beat. The Streat Beat is IMHO the perfect small fixed blade.

The Backpacker has a lot of things going for it, the steel is an improvement on VG10, even if White River runs it softer than it could be at RC59 or so. White River does the most gorgeous polished/stonewashed finish. The edges are radiused perfectly. It's a very pleasant knife in the hand, but the Backpacker is designed as a smaller knife to be lightweight and basically be a caper/fishing knife. The Street Beat is more of a defensive knife and fills your hand more fully without any excess.

I disagree with Lapedog Lapedog a bit in that I think the second-generation White River Backpacker sheath is the best production Kydex going right now, and the Street Beat sheath compares poorly.

I'd be all over a Blurple Street Beat. I think polished blurple G10 would be amazing. I would prefer Elmax, but that would ruin the Blurple G10 pattern, so really I'd be happy in anything upgraded over VG10 (which is a fine steel, don't get me wrong).

I think you probably misread because I said the White River sheath looks better than the Street B sheath.

I haven’t owned a backpacker so I was just looking at the design of the sheath it comes with. It looks quite small with an ideal grommet set up for iwb. The micarta street b comes with quite an excellent sheath but the street b liteweight comes with a lousy sheath where the material dulls the edge very badly.

I can tell the backpacker/caper is not as big or filling as the Street B but it looks like it might be a nice knife for a smaller street b like knife to wear around when you don’t want the fighting knife capability of the Street B.

I agree the handle on the backpacker doesn't look as filling. I love the SB handle. I think finding a really great fitting handle might be the hardest thing to get in a knife.
Oh and if Sal wants to do a run in Elmax and a different color handle, I'll let it slide....

I would be all over a LC200N Street Beat, and yes, G10 or micarta. The Street Beat is a bit more ergonomic than the Backpacker Pro, but the backpacker Pro is an awesome knife in its own right and carries SUPER well. I got it with the intent of selling my Street Beat because I didn't like the sheath, but then I got a custom Street Beat sheath made that is perfect, so now I'm keeping both.

I think the higher end street beats are probably getting expensive to make. I know that knife production in Japan is getting increasingly expensive and the Micarta SB looks like it has alot of fine work on it.

Damn thing feels like a custom knife.

How does BD1N compare to VG-10?

How does BD1N compare to VG-10?

Bd1n seems to take an edge easier and be less brittle. It takes a very agressive edge quite easily. It’s quite tough.

But both Slyderco Street Beat Micarta and Street Beat Lightweight are VG10.

Well if Sal did a sprint of the Street Beat he could do one in BD1N to keep the costs down, I need to try this steel soon!

Now that, I like.

Bd1N seems to mostly go on US made Spydies since the steel is made in the US.

Japanese Spydies tend to use Japanese steels so a Street B in ZDP189 or HAP40 would be aboslutely the nicest.

You guys lusting after a Street Beat in a different steel should contact David Mary. He is a mod on here, and I have a Street Beat tribute knife coming from him in Lc200n and scalloped micarta. I imagine he could make one in about any combo somebody’s wants. From all his work I have seen, it looks absolutely top notch and he’s a super nice guy to deal with.
