I just finished up a blade in 1095 I was wondering if anyone out there with a salt bath could heat treat it for me ?

Thanks and All the Best

LU.

Where do you live?? I am setting up my salt bath and hope to have it running fully next week. I would be happy to throw it in with my next batch of blades.

Use high temperature molten salts to bring it up to temp, 1500 or so. The molten salts transfer heat very fast and give an extremely even heat over the whole blade. THere are also low temp salts for tempering. If they are heated to 400F you can quench directly into them called martempering.

Larry,
Salt pot/bath is a method of heat treating using salts that become molten at either high or low temperatures. People use either a gas forge connected to a thermocouple and controller or an electric kiln. There's a lot of dangers associated with them but they leave a scale free finish after heat treat.
