Samsung Alias Help! (Verizon)

So, I just got a Samsung Alias today from a friend and I was just wondering about the Mobile IM. I've also owned a Motorola KRZR K1m and a Nokia 6215i and both had Mobile IM. Well, when I go into the messaging menu and go to Mobile IM it says "1. Get New App." I then click it and it says "No items were found" with the Get it Now title above it. But! When i go to the Get it Now menu (all the way to the left) and go down to Extras, I see both "1. Get New App." and underneath it "Mobile IM" with an icon with a blue asterisk type thing and a red lock icon. It works and allows me to connect to AIM, MSN and Yahoo! messengers, I also updated it. I was just wondering if anybody else had this phone, problem or a solution. The other version, the SCH-u740 is the phone before this, and would also work for helping me out!

This is common among all Verizon phones. It is the way the software is setup. I have an EnV2 and it's the same way. Do you have a V-Cast package? If not then you are paying $1.99 per MB and that gets pretty expensive. The $15 V-Cast package is your best bet and another $5 for email allows you to access any number of email accounts you may have.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I talked to them and they told me that Mobile IM, no matter how it's downloaded, is charged per text, and I have unlimited texting so I'm safe. It just bugs me because I've owned a Motorola KRZR K1m and a Nokia 6215i and never had this problem, it was right in the Mobile IM heading. But at least I know it's not specific to my phone. Were they able to resolve it for you?

Hm, anyone else? I also noticed when I have the phone on Auto View for texts it gives a short vibrate and chime, thats it. Kind of annoying because I liked this feature on my other phone.
