The SMD is actually a REALLY good kitchen knife! The full-height flat grind makes it a nice slicer. :cool: I actually took mine on my last camping trip, and while being great for processing firewood, it also performed flawlessly while cutting up the briskets I smoked at the lake on the trip. :) It also got a nice, bluish patina in the process. I know, I know, I need to get pics... :oops:
 
From my experience with Hand cutting steaks and cutting portions of prime rib; a knife this size is imperative.
