I am looking to purchase a scabbard or sheath for my Knight sword from https://www.albion-swords.com . I intend to wear this about town so I want a scabbard or sheath that is the most comfortable for wearing a sword on my hip. It would also be nice but not necessary if I could wear the sword on my back possibly. But primarily I want to carry the sword on my hip around my waist line. So I want something functional in the sense that I can walk around town and not have it banging into my leg or causing discomfort, more so then looking good like a museum piece or fancy. I would want a scabbard or sheath so I can go on hikes and long walks with a sword on my hip. Does anyone else walk around with a sword? What scabbard or sheath are you using? I was recommended the following

http://christianfletcher.com/scabbards/

Does anyone have any experience with these places. What are your thoughts or recommendations? Thank you.

Tod of todsworkshop is incredible and his scabbards are both beautiful and historically accurate (I also highly recommend his youtube channel), but I don't believe he does the "sword on the back" style. I have heard good things about the other two options, but have no first hand experience of their work.

I'd carry a rapier, preferably this one

I have worn a sword while walking arround... viking sword, shield, axe....

Halloween several times.

I bought a sword frog to hang the sword from the sword belt at an angle.

Not what I would call "comfortable" from a hike arround for fun standpoint.

But I can say I've done it several times for Halloween.

Not knowing where you live or your reasons, or where you plan on hiking with a full sized medieval sword.....I might suggest a pinch of caution!!

I guess I'm wondering what town you will be walking around and why you would be doing so with a sword? I also wonder what sort of view local law enforcement might take of that fashion statement. I don't really see a scenario where the idea ends well. I'm a big sword guy and I'm all about the second amendment, but I carry concealed as a matter of tactics and it certainly is not a sword that I carry. Unless you happen to be a semi-immortal Scotsman from the 16th century you might want to rethink the project.

Or buy a smatchet. One of those things...

I have a scabbard from Christian Fletcher, with the Gaddhjalt belt.
The scabbard is amazing, and holds the sword without any concern from me.
Unfortunately I have never worn this on my hip/ waist/ back.
Best of luck.

I'm sure you have your own reasons for walking outside with a long sword (Cop: "Hey, keep that thing sheathed!") but it reminds me of a joke about a man seen by his neighbors simply standing in the middle of his farm. When asked why, he said he wanted to be outstanding in his field.
