Scammed by @Jaims - James Lovejoy

Appreciate you putting this out here for the rest of us. As a by the by for the audience at large it's my understanding that Venmo and Zell have just about zero purchaser protections so I wouldn't ever use either of those as a payment method.

Update as of 8/1/21 post 1

Radio silence from J Jaims - James Edward Lovejoy. He’s had every chance to make good. No surprise that he didn’t, according to several review forums, this is nothing new.
Most recently in efforts to resolve this amicably and avoid escalating, I reached out to family member (X) that he resides with and another family member (Z), no answer from X, BUT X communicated to (Z) and told her to block me and delete my email because “it’s been taken care of.” There is no truth to this.
Do not be fooled, this is a well coordinated effort by him, his fiancé (Jasmin Cole), and possibly his mother (Theresa Lovejoy Mott -
706-455-9960).
In efforts to prevent another victim, below is information regarding his identities he uses.

Both of them look like real winners from what I can see on their FB pages. Hopefully you get some of your money back at least through paypal.

He's been a known scammer on FB for a while. Couple of threads about him and Jazzy in EDC Deal or No Deal..

I can’t send you a private message because you don’t have a paid subscription but I have a lot of information. If you pass along your email or precinct number I am happy to call

Not to beat a dead horse but Jimmy Lovejoy has been known as a notorious scammer on FB for a while. It would be in everyone’s best interest to join EDC Deal or No Deal (FBs GBU). Used to be scammers ran from BF to go scam on FB/IG; now it appears that the inverse is happening.

If you can have anyone you know who has been scammed contact me, I would appreciate it. I can send you my contact information privately.

I have extensive communications with James “Jimmy” Lovejoy and made a deal to buy 5 knives from him. [snip] I was very focused on getting the package out and getting a tracking number. He was in communication with me and provided me with the tracking number.
Package showed delivered or out for delivery and by sheer luck of circumstance I am away and, against my better judgement, he had begged me to release part of the funds.

Package later than day, only has 2 of the 5.

I immediately reached out to Jimmy who said he thought THEY were supposed to arrive at the same time. “They're in 2 boxes both shod have been delivered together though.” This was the first time there was any mention of a mystery second package. I asked him for tracking number for the newly discovered of second package. I asked him why he didn’t tell me there was a second package and why when I asked for tracking info he didn’t provide it to me. His answer “I thought incase the hold wasn't lifted or there was some bs with getting it I'd have something to fall back on” which makes absolutely no sense because he would have already sent the package and delivery to me would have been out of his control.

If he used US Postal Service, then he committed mail fraud. If not, I'm not sure if you can get much from UPS or Fedex (I mean that literally... I'm not sure what assistance they would offer, probably none).

If you have it well documented, and sounds like you do, you have a leg to stand on. There are US Postal Inspectors that cover various areas of the country, and they have what resemble "police powers" being a Federal Agency... they can investigate, and bring charges. https://www.uspis.gov/

I had a young punk try to send me an empty box with no Spyderco Military in S90V inside. He underestimated... and Long story short ==> On principle, I eventually got this punk on a teleconference w/ the local postal inspector (Inspector and and I were in same room), and the punk sobered up (literally), and under a legitimate threat from said inspector, he made things right.

Especially if you aren't in a big city, where they might be swamped, you might be able to get the Postal Inspector to assist. At the time, I was working this issue in an area of about 400k people. No problem getting Postal Inspector interested.

It is good you documented this shyster here in GB&U (I prefer the German "Scheißer"). If you can't tell, I think you hammer this guy, so he thinks twice before cheating others. If his fiance is implicated, then involve her also, hammer her too. I probably spent 10 hours on the $250 "empty box" project... it was worth it, but not for the hourly wage... I did it on principle. And I can tell you the young guy who did it has deeply regretted the "fame" and notoriety that Google searches of his name and aliases has brought on him over many years.

No harm in giving it a shot. I do think I did part on credit. I really appreciate that you all responded and engaged the way you did. I am happy to answer any other questions you have or any other suggestions. If there is a way to communicate with him as admins to just inquire about this claim and see his side, maybe he’ll respond to you. I would be very happy to have read this all wrong but there’s really no excuse for him being deceitful with shipping and non communicative when especially when things seem wrong. As they say if it looks like a duck and quacks like one you’re dealing with a scumbag.
Don't just file a claim with Paypal or just your credit card company, take it to the US Postal Inspector before seriously entertaining a trip to Georgia to local police.
