They have a long and storied history of this by now, but I'm still surprised every time I see a new one - especially when the same vendor carries both knives.

Yeah it's a shame, the ZT is the worst only because it's such a well known model I specifically gave them a hard time about it when they posted the blatant copy to IG. I will say it's not new I have a Schrade from the 90's that is basically a Buck 110 I know everyone has a buck 110 copy but still.

The victimized companies should probably take action against Battenfield Technologies, the current owners of the Schrade name.

I had no idea this was going on.

I own a Schrade but it's a discontinued model from the early aughts. I haven't looked at them recently.

Yea, I don't really look at Schrade so wasn't aware the copies were so blatant.

They always got a pass when they were USA made and made 1000s of copies of the Buck 110, so I guess now that they're made in China it shouldn't be surprising they are still at it.

Nothing new really. Knife companies have been copying each others designs for a hundred years or more. Doesn't make it right.

Me either. Interesting how there isn’t nearly as much hatred here for Schrade as there is for Sanrenmu and other Chinese brands....
Well, no one here is suggesting that we should buy them, or how much they are "just like" the copied models but much cheaper etc. And they're not true clones, but they are blatant design rip offs which sucks!

Well, I hope that the reaction will now be similar since most of us appear to have been ignorant.

That is pretty obvious. Are those designs trademarked or copyrighted? What legal recourse does the original designer have? I honestly don't know. On the other hand, as some others have stated, there is probably very little direct competition between the $150-$200 knife segment and the $12-$30 knife segment. That doesn't make it right, I'm just saying the loss is sales for the higher end knives is probably not very great, as people who pay $20 for a knife probably weren't considering a $175 knife.

I don't own any Schrade folders (that I am aware of - I have taken some things in trade or picked up odds and ends that I may have forgotten about). Schrade makes some decent cheap beater fixed blades, but this will make me think twice about Schrade.

This is the first I've seen of this crap too. I'm guessing that these can be bought off eBay or from China without the Schrade markings as well.

Count me among the others who had no clue they were doing this. I knew about Schrade's 110 misadventure, but I had no idea they went this far downhill. The first 3 knives look like legitimate clones.

Wow this is news to me too that Schrade is now ripping off other designs at such a large scale. Good grief, that's bad.

Now I feel bad, I've suggested here on the forums in the past that one of the Schrade fixed blades was a nice 'value' option for the money, the SCHF52/SCHF52M. It really is a good design, basically a small 'chopper', a 7" blade that is significantly shorter/lighter than the typical 8" to 12" chopper knives, but still designed for and capable of chopping. I've tested it and for $36, I thought this knife was a great deal: takes a great edge, chops well, great ergos in the handle design, and has a decent sheath. But now I'm wondering if they ripped off this design too and are depriving somebody of their due profits.

Don't have pics handy to show but check the carving knife they make based on the Flexcut carving knife. Same tool assortment but lacking the locking feature .
