Who has never sent in for a Schrade UH Lost replacement knife?

All the Schrades I had, and I was always tempted to send in the lost replacement warranty card, but I never could bring myself to do it, even when I convinced myself that the added price covered for an extra knife.

Who here has or hasn't sent in for an extra/replacement UH?

I did send in my circa 1970/72 Walden 165OT #16239 in about 1997 for a replacement shield. I received it back in perfect condition with the shield in place and the new sheath requested, along with a nice note...no charge! Spank my rear, but I didn't keep that note! It could well have been written by Ms. Chase!

Codger,

The spanking thing is a whole 'nother direction for this forum.
Can we just whack your knuckles with a ruler... and not go in that spanking direction?? :D

ON TOPIC...I've never had to send a Schrade in for any warranty...or "LOST" work...just lucky I guess.

Actually, Bill, I think the lack of warranty problems was the norm. Otherwise, they couldn't have offered such warranties for so long. The Baers were, however, operating under the assumption that the vast majority of buyers were honest folk. In my case, the knife was twenty five years old, and I didn't ask for the warranty to cover it. I did enclose a letter praising the knife and begging their care to return the same one, and charge me for the work.

Wonder if we could send it today to Taylor and get the same customer service?

I've had UH's since the mid 70's but never lost one, I did loose a Sharp Finger once and I know of two OT's that I gave as presents that were lost. I don't know if the UH replacement for loss would have been valid across the border.

Ever wonder where all the lost ones end up? Is there a warehouse full of found Schrades? They are not like socks (thread content) which tend to walk out of the washing machine and are never to be seen again.

Ok I gotta get rid of some more of that stuff I drank last night..

I think gnomes, elves, and wives hide those things from us. I think our wives are closet knife, sock, and key collectors, and one day we may stumble on their huge hidden stashes. My wife seems to do it more the older I...she gets.

I wonder how do single socks from a pair get lost, it seems to happen much too often....Then again since apparently old knives like to get into old socks maybe they just run away together....

When I worked as a groundskeeper in the '80's, my boss lost his and we all looked all over creation for it with no luck. I remember that he got a call from the factory and told the story of how it was lost. They sent him a new one that day. He asked the person on the phone how often people collected on the anti-loss warranty and was told that very few people made a claim for loss.

Don Luis. I know that Schrade honored the loss replacement for Canadians. As for the lost socks, that's easy, they end up in an alternate universe where everyone wears only one white sock and Schrade is still in business.:)
