So my wife asks me if I can sharpen her scissors, nothing fancy, just a basic working tool type pair of scissors she uses on a regular basis. I've never sharpened scissors but thought it would be fun to do. So I basically just followed the bevel on each side with a medium diamond hone and then a fine diamond and then gently lopped off the burr on the flat side with a ceramic hone. It had just become shaving sharp when I finished. If this was my pair of scissors I would have continued till they whittled hair but I figured since my wife wasn't used to that level of sharpness it could get pretty bloody  Nevertheless I handed them back to her and she did some cutting tests on cardboard and was pleasantly surprised :D

stretch-if i remember correctly fiskars scissors always seem highly praised by those in the know...

W-congrats on the approval. several months ago i got to sharpen the thread snips that my great grandma used to use. my grandma has been using them and they were dul. she was very happy when i returned them thread-poppin sharp. when i do scissors i usually just finish with a 120 grit belt and then when i close them the burr is ripped off...i might try taking it off with a stone though in the future...
