Searching Laguiole info

Hi, I have recieved a folding knife as a gift and the givver has no knowledge about it maker. The blade has engraved the word Laguiole AND a Sea Horse logo
next to the name. It's a fine knife and well constructed, I'd like to know a bit about the Mfgr.

Made in France. Long history by a number of French makers. Google is your friend.;)--KV
 
I have no idea why this is labeled as "off-topic" ??? It's a legitimate question. I have never seen a laguiole with a sea horse logo either.

The Laguiole name is open to use by anyone making a similarly shaped knife, so it is not only made in France, it can be made anywhere and at any level of quality. This makes it difficult to identify a rare variant of unusual origin. In any knife identification, pictures can help.
 
Meanwhile I found some info when I realised that the French for "seahorse" is "hippocampe".

from one webpage: "Laguiole L’ Hippocampe, by the Coutelier Arthaud Chosson"

A maker from Thiers in France, hence an "original" laguiole (laguiole isn't a protected design hence they can be made everywhere but purists will want one made in or near Thiers)

Then I found this page, in French, which seems to be the official page of this maker. The brand seems to be ARTO.

I found here a German webshop offering these laguioles:

Prices are between the cheap mass production ones and the more famous ones like Fontenille-Pataud.

I expect that yours is indeed a decent artisanal laguiole offered at a reasonable price.

Hi Dagon, Bingo, you hit the jackpot. The knife I have is an Arto product
I identified it as the Le Bec De Corbin with a Amourette wood handle.
