I was wondering if anyone else has done anything like this: I was using my favorite knife yesterday which happens to be my small sebenza. Being the knife that I carry everyday regardless or whatever else I've got, I wanted to make it unique. It already has my initials engraved in it, so I decided I'd take some sand paper and smooth out all the edges then take off the bead blast. I've done the top half, and It feels and looks great. I just need to work on the locking half. I didn't touch the inside slab b/c I didn't want to mess up the contact points that are machined to fit the blade perfectly and didn't take too much off the edge so as to change the way the screws fit. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions with as to how I should finish it. I was thinking about buffing it out to a mirror finish or possibly sand blasting it to get a nice satin type finish. I was also thinking about taking the screws, the clip, and the blade over to Mollecular Metallurgy over here in El Cajon and having them Tialn coated. Any thought or suggestions would be appreciated. The sand blasting part is simple enough but I'd appreciate any suggestions anyone might have regarding the polishing. I'd like to know the best way to do it.

I KNOW MANY OF YOU WOULD SAY: "IF IT AINT BROKEN......................." but I tend to customize EVERYTHING.

Sounds great, but does it void the warranty? A sebenza is a great knife but the warranty is what makes a Chris Reeve knife better than the competition. Isn't It?

glass bead -not sand blast-
it wont void warranty either ,i had a ''custom'' i sent in and they said they liked the look-

Thanks guys! Yeah kdizzog: CRK IS great on their warranty work. I can't really see a problem with voiding the warranty as long as I don't mess with the lock mechanism or the inside of the handles. I LOVE the new feel of it by the way. I can't wait to finish the locking side and put the finish on. Sorry rosconey2.....I'm no expert on the terms. Thanks for the correction. I won't sound like a dummy when I tell people about it now :0)
Did I mention that I LOVE my CRK's? :0)

I also wanted a more 'rounded' feel to my small Sebenza, and heard that the inlaid models felt better. So I added some custom onlays to just beef up the width of the handles by a total of 3 mm and now it fits my hand better than ever.
I too have a tendency to customise everything. Enjoy your customised Sebenza!

make sure to cover/tape the lock contact area when having the scales bead-blasted!
