Hello,

the H.E.S.T. got that Bottle Opener on the back of its blade.

1- Does it mean its conceptor wanted to be sure to be able to open a beer in the most confortable way possible. (The pry bar can also be used for that...)
Does it mean the conceptor got some kind of alcoholic anxiety by going in far away country far from any CBO ("Confortable Bottle Opener") or

Could it be a universal way to get along with people ?
The guy who brings the bottle opener is often the guy you shoot in last...:D
(In France it's the guy with cockscrew which is an great english invention BTW! )

2-What could be the other use of that notch in the blade.

So let's try to see how creative you are...
The prybar is easy to figure and should not be in the riddle but that CBO... is it for the real clever survivalist ?

First thing which get in my mind was: "You can pass an elastic band in it and shoot at moths" (if you don't emaculate them first)... Naaaah.
OK let's get creative and start that osmosis with that lovely knife.

My riddle is:
How do you use that CBO for other things than "opening a container full of yummy fluid" ? (Excuse my japanese)

Be creative. Be funny. But please answer that riddle... (and don't go in the kinky things, like speedos, keep that for french holidays!)

PS: Bonus: the Rat Riddle:
"Which creature in the morning goes on four legs, at mid-day on four, and in the evening upon four, and the more knives it has, the wealthier it be?"

Is it possible that you have "tested" the bottle opener far too many times and therefore are creating a number of silly riddles? :)

Well let's see.... could be that the designer of the HEST wanted it to be considered a MultiTool and therefore it must have a bottle opener, no self respecting MultiTool would shy away from opening a Beer, now would it?

LOL !
Do you think a survival multitool need a bottle opener when you can do it with your teeth of the angle of a concrete brick ?
This is not the main tool I use in a multitool so it might be a reason: creativity !
You can lash a string in it.... I saw somewhere from RYP it could turn the HEST into an axe...

I have tested the opener once and it was on sparkling water !
I told you there is no corckscrew in that tool !!!

it's so that the folks with you know you're ready and willing to defend your tasty bottled beverage after opening it -- without having to change tools or grips!

Hold bottle neck with one hand. Put the flat of your knife lying on the side of your hand with the spine under the cap...twist with your hand holding the handle and done. Bottle openers on any knife are a gimmick.

I've opened a beer or two in my time. I've used everything from rocks to countertops to bic lighters, and everything in between. However possible alternatives are, there is simply no replacement for the ease of a good, hook and pry bottle opener.

Come on, we all know how to use a bottle opener !!!
All those forumites from 2009 cant got beyond the finger which point the moon or what ?
Tssss...

"opening a container full of yummy fluid"

I got this far and had to stop.

thanks and have a good day.

you can use it as a rope notch together with the wire break notch when making a spear out of the knife (e.g. for fishing). It will hold it firmly in place. I imagine that that was the first purpose, and the bottle opener is a double on that.

Another "2009" like I love them. And with one thousand post in 6 monthes !!! I'm so impressed !
I feel drafted again. Surrounded by people ready to yell their rat numbers... and that's all.

Is that the new generation of forumites ?:grumpy:
So disappointing.

This is something to test and to picture.
(All those different way to turn you knife into a spear with out to lose it.)

Now I understand how he did not caught my drift...
But i still don't understand why he expressed his lack of interest.
When I don't like a thread, and it's happening more and more, I do not express it. What is his point in doing that ?

There is a famous scarecrow who once said:
"Do you really wants to hurt me
Do you really want to make me cry..."
:D

Anyway back to the topic I try to figure how to lash the knife through the bottle opener and then going through the wire breaker. It's an idea to strenght the spear head.

You mean they incorprated the bottle opener when stringing it up to be an axe?I was wondering if it could also be used to puncture a can lid for pouring so you dont have to use the sharp part of the plade.Maybe the prybar would work for that though?

Well after careful review i see someone already use what i came up with. I would use it in a spear and wrap between it and the wire breaker to strengthen a spear. Also something that comes to mind is Getting at small bone, bone marrow. Just place said bone in slot and twist. Also could have coating taken off and edge sharpened in that area as a spot for fire starting. Also I have not held one before but being a paramedic it looks very close to the size you would use to open an O2 cylinder.

It was RYP quote about using it to turn the HEST into some kind of axe.
Anything is possible but I would like to see some pictures.
That would be much more usefull than another picture of an Izula paracord handle, if you see what I mean !:D

You could use it to open some flammable liquid on a plane, I guess.

But it would be wrong!
