secret design of SRK SRKC tip

it seems this topic has not yet been covered.

I bought SRKC first, notice the tip-top is broader than the tip-end (tip strength enhanced). I am always curious about wether SRK features the same design, so I bought myself a SRK for my birthday. Here are the pictures.

5 days later I bought the SRK, I bought another SRK with Califonia address (pre-GSM I guess), which is the thinnist tip of the three.

Conclusion: SRKC SK5 tip > SRK SK5 (Texas) tip > SRK SK5 (Califonia) tip

Same conclusion could be found in JOEX's testing, SRKC did last longer by a little bit.

Didn't they switch to a hollow grind for the SRK? I think the compact still has the flat grind. So there is that aswell.
It would be cool if they went back to the flat grind for the full size model.

I would love to see a budget stainless version in aus8 or 4116 too.

I would imagine the differences are simply the result of mass-production anomalies that can occur from one knife to another, or one batch to another, or one factory to another at any given time. It's entirely possible that if you bought another of any of those models it might have a different thickness of false-edge.

I've owned 14 Ti-Lite 6's, same model, all purchased from the same vendor, and I noticed differences between many of them, including some having noticeably thicker false-edges than others.

It is changing in a good way. Thicker tips.

Batches/Factory Variance, it's possible back in 90's when everything was just hand-taught. It will be quite unbelievable in 2023 Taiwan. Computerised manufactuering process should minimised all appearance variances.
