Secret Pin hole on Victorinox' s?

My 15 year old SAK had a pin until I lost it. I usually use the pin with the tweezer to remove splinters from my hands. But my brother's even older SAK didn't have a hole for the pin, interesting isn't it?

Yup, I had noticed the hole before but didn' t know if it had any purpose, this really surprised me.

Yes, I knew about it. A lot if not all of the new VICs I've purchased in the last couple of years had the hole in the scale even if the knife was not advertised as having the pin. It comes in handy sometimes!

All of my newer SAKs have the pin hole, but did not come with the actual pin. I had to get them from eBay (before I knew they could be commonly picked up at crafts stores. I forget size they are, offhand). My Tinker that I received in '93 does not have a pin hole in the scales.

My brother's Super Tinker (c. 2007) has the pin hole.

My Spartan and (black) Camper, which were purchased used 4 years ago and were probably a couple years old then do not have the pin hole.

just saw that vid last night.. pretty cool! its those little details that makes a victorinox multi-tool such high quality

The Explorer Plus - which I proclaim to be the "best" SAK for EDC - has the pin. :)

While I was inspecting one at the store I saw this, but I wasn't sure of its function. Than I saw Jeffs video on it. Really glad I did, makes you see just how good Victorinox is.

My tinker (circa 2000-2002) doesn't have the hole. Found it a little weird that it didn't, since it's the same model cutlerylover was showing.

Yup, another reason why I prefer Victorinox (though I like Wenger almost just as much!), it' s just the attention to detail:thumbup:

My Hiker has the hole, which I didn't even know was there. I raided my wife's sewing kit for a pin. Thanks for the info.

Just added one to my Victorinox Huntsman (and posted on Youtube). :) I'm glad I signed onto Bladeforums today!
