Wondering if anyone has had any luck selling guns online via some of the gun auction sites? I have a few older rifles that I want to sell and it's tough here in WA state. I know upon sale I would need to ship to and FFL dealer so wondering if anyone's had any experience with that?

Basically just trying to figure out how to best go about selling 2 or 3 rifles and maybe a shotgun.

Thanks for any tips, advise or experience with this.

If you don't want to use the large auction sites, I'd go the classified route on the forums. I am just beginning to sell off a chunk of my collection. One down..... I don't have any restrictions for the most part on what sells and it's first come first serve until I reach my $ target.

I am planning on paying a FFL dealer to ship the guns that I have sold. Yeah, it costs a little more, but they will use USPS versus FedEx and for the most part a day or three difference in shipping times makes zero difference.

Armslist (I believe) has a in-state dedicated grouping. Always easier to do the face to face sale for me and with long guns you don't have to worry about packaging.

Ah, thanks for the info. I checked out Armslist and that might be a good option for a local sale. Here in WA even in person sales have to go through an FFL so at least your meeting in a secure location. I might also try and list a couple things here on the forums.

I used to belong to several gun forums and the consensus among those folks was that Armslist was rife with scams...tread cautiously...

Yeah, I've read you need to really be careful. If I went that route it would be a local in person, cash only, meet at the FFL dealer location only type of transaction. Not perfect but a little more secure.

Some local gun shops do consignment deals. They might even have an online shop or an account on gunbroker. I sold one handgun via consignment thru a firearms dealer here in the suburbs of Detroit who has a nice store + shooting range. $65 flat fee, no % of the sale, and they get the transfer $. If they have an online store or will list it on gunbroker for you, you will pay more but they will reach more people and they do all the work (ie take pics, write up listing, process sale, etc). Usually that is a standard fee for the listing + % of the sale.

One of my coworkers has bought and sold many firearms on Armslist. He has his CPL and he usually asks someone else to come along with him. I've been to one meeting/transaction (I have my CPL too). Definitely more risk in this venture.

Closed. This is not a gun site. It's a knife site. There are plenty of gun forums out there to answer your question.
