Seriously, how awesome is the Fehrman Peacemaker?

Since I live in Germany, it makes no sense for me to purchase a high end knife in the US and have it ship to me. I would have to pay an additional 19% taxes and the shipping...that's just too much.
Luckily, I made a great deal on a German forum.
A slightly used Fehrman Peacemaker, including the shipment I paid 180$ and what can I say...you American folks sure know how to make a sweet blade.

The ergonomics...awesome
The fit and finish...incredible
The handling...there's just no way to improve it
The steel...you know what 3v can do

This is just a fine piece of craftsmanship, I plan on having a knifemaker over here strip the coating and put some wood or bone handles on it, maybe I will do something about this oversized fingerguard, but I'm not sure about that.

And let me tell you, for 3/16'' thickness this knife is a great cutter and slicer.

I already own a good number of production and custom fixed blades (ESEE, Fällkniven, Bark River) and even though they are all great (have to get more Bark Rivers), not one of them pleases me as much as the Peacemaker.

I highly recommend this blade, that's all I'm saying.

Recently got my black Extreme Judgment, fit & finish are second to none! Handle is comfortable and fits my hand like a glove(I wear a size large glove).its a heavy blade but handling it feels satisfying due to the gr8 handle design and is very secure. The edge on it is perfect and very sharp, the sharpest knife out the box so far.The kydex sheath I got with the knife is also very well made and fits perfect!Overall I'm very happy with the knife and will post a proper review when I've done enough work with it.

Cheers
Anton

Yes, they make awesome knives. So much so, that I am seriously considering becoming a stocking Fehrman dealer.

They don't seem to get the same attention as some other makers but pretty much every post I see about them speaks very highly of Fehrman as makers of well designed heavy use blades. I have been looking at them a long time I am going to have to pull the trigger at some point.

I used a Peacemaker for years as my main woods utility knife (paired with a 10" fehrman hoodhunter) and it was one sweet knife. It was tough as nails, and held an edge unbelievably long. However through the course of use, I found my ergonomic preferences changing, and the peacemaker no longer fit my hand like I wanted it to. I have since replaced it with 3V Aurora and have never looked back (BRK sure knows how to heat treat this stuff!!). I do miss that Peacemaker as it was an awesome blade, but I am happy with my current woods knife.

I really like the looks of the Thru Hiker, but 3/16 is just too thick, and I've heard it isn't exactly ground thin, either.

I couldn't get any measurements, the website says they (Thru Hiker and Peacemaker) are 4,8mm thick, however when I hold it next to the ESEE 4, it appears to be the same thickness (which is around 4mm). Let me tell you that this knife is a great cutter despite the thickness.
I will have to get my hands on a Thru Hiker as well since the PM is way too big to edc.
The only thing that's not as high end as the knife itself is the sheath that comes with it, the upper layer is already peeling of, but I was planning to make another sheath anyway. No big deal for me.
And you're right, it's a shame they don't get more attention.

I love the PM as well... it's a fantastic knife and I second all the praise Glubse had been listing... at $180, that's a great knife at a great price!

Has anybody ever tried the fire bow notch? I always carry fire, so it has never crossed my mind to try it, but I was wondering how this would hold up over time... anybody have any experience using it?

Fehrman knives really do deserve more exposure!!!
