Engraving pictures

It occurred to me, many of you may not be familiar with hand engraving or what an Airgraver is;) It's a palm sized pneumatic jackhammer that uses tiny chisels to remove and shape metal :)

I have a Ti handled custom framelock that’s terribly slippery... could you use your airgraver to checker it or add some type of texture?

While it's certainly doable with the equipment, checkering is not something I'd be comfortable undertaking at this point. That being said, the knotwork engraving I typically like to do is cut quite deep by engraving standards and does add quite a bit of texture.

Did some anodizing today on the Stryduhr, the textured background is a dark blue to simulate the "blacking out" that engraving traditionally gets, with bronze on bare titanium for the rest.

Decided to carry the background blue onto the borders for a splash of color...

Playing around with blackening Titanium, seems to work...no more black enamel backgrounds for me! Pretty damn abrasion resistant too, took some elbow grease to sand it back off the high points:eek::D

On the downstretch! Just have to do the shading on the other side, then on to blackening I think!:D

Wound up just keeping the blackened background, having the frame blend into the background was just weird. The blackening works out great for it though...a nice flat black that really makes the colors and engraving pop:D

Martin's going to pass, so it's currently available...I'll try to get a sales thread posted up soon:)

Can you bear blast titanium? Working on some frame locks and I dont have bead blasting equipment
Yup, I do it all the time:thumbsup: Not that I don't want to help you out, but have you checked local machine shops, auto shops, etc? Chances are someone near you has a blasting cabinet, they're really common and it would save you the hassle of shipping.:)
