jose, do you think you can clarify for us if you are requesting information, or informing us of something?

It's a bit unclear at the moment.

Shapton Glass Stone HR grit 500 coarse 29.4 micron sharpening stone

There are two Shpaton glass 500 stones HR and HC. HR is for simple Japanese steels with High Rockwell Numbers and (relatively) lower carbide volume. HC stones are meant for newer High Carbide steels that may or may not be High Rockwell. IIRC HR is more popular but you may choose according to steels you have. Other actual users may share their feedback (I only have SG 6k in edgepro format). Both version come in 5mm and 10mm thickness(?). The one you have specified is 10mm Thickness.

So yes, It is the Shapton glass 500 stone you have described.

Edit. Ignore this post. see JasonB's post below.

This is Incorrect.

The Shapton HC stones are designed for Polishing High Quality Carbon steels and there are only three of them. The 4000, 6000 and 8000.

The Shapton HR stones or "High Resistance" stones are made to sharpen hard and tough alloy steels. Originally, these stones were designed specifically for woodworking tools using high hardness A2 Tool Steel. They quickly made there way into other areas of sharpening because a good stone is a good stone.

I believe you are asking if the extra thick and the regular SG500 are the same? The answer is Yes, they are the same, the extra thick is just thicker and will last longer.

You should purchase the Shapton Glass 500 Extra Thick.

Thanks, Jason for correcting my misconception.
