Hello all,

Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving.

I have a coworker with a ceramic knife that he says needs to be sharpened. How do you do that? Is there somewhere he can send it to?

I can sharpen steel knives quite nicely but have never messed with the ceramic.

Thank you,

Charlie

I'm not sure but diamond stones such as DMT's, etc., might do the trick.

diamond is the only way to sharpen ceramic knives. i was sent a really dull ceramic blade that i now have a working edge on but i havent taken the time yet to make it any sharper. the edge looked somewhat rounded and took some time with a diamond wheel to get it sharp enough to cut. i think there is a company out west that sharpens ceramic blades.

For ceramic sharpening, send your knife to;

Ross Cutlery

Attn: Ceramic Sharpening

310 S Broadway

Los Angeles, CA 90013

Include your name, address(no PO Boxes), and phone number, along with a

check or money order made out to Ross Cutlery in the amount of $19.95.

Thanks, Terry
This is from the Boker sub-forum here on Blade Forums. Maybe give them a try.

can use very fine grit sandpaper--Phil Cressman gives instructions on sharpening ceramic knives on his webpage. Phil sells a credit-card sized diamond hone as well as his reasonably priced ceramic blades.
