I have been using the Worksharp Ken Onion edition for many months now. I have been getting lots of requests to do scissors. Regular scissors are easy and I have been doing them. Lately I have been getting lots of requests to sharpen the expensive convex edge barber/ salon scissors and straight razors. These are extremely expensive scissors, upwards of $300-$600 new and I don't want to mess them up. What is the best way to sharpen these with the Ken Onion Worksharp, or another sharpening tool?

Also, if anyone has experience with barber scissors, what else do I need to do to sharpen them. I read about a specific bend or tensioned angle they need to be at. Does this mean I shouldn't take them apart to sharpen them? Is there more than just making them sharp that I need to be doing when I have them?

I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, but you can't sharpen them on a worksharp. It'll ruin them instantly.

Thats fine. I was prepared for that being the case. What is the best way to sharpen this type of scissors?

barbers shears are a whole other kind of beast and least of all alot of how "good/sharp" they are is from the feel of the cut of the barber. i was asked by the stylists in the fam if i could do it and i told them i woudl try on a pair of shears that were already shot. i have been hand honing straight razors and sushi knives for years and those shears still frighten me
