Can anyone educate a sword newbie? Looking for a good replica of a British Cavalry sword a la Richard Sharpe? Been getting into the books and movies lately and seem to have developed a new fixation (as if owning a gazillion knives wasn't enough).

Sharpe's Sword is the Model 1796 British Heavy Cavalry Sabre, a reproduction of which is available from the following site: http://www.militaryheritage.com/swords2.htm By all reports it is a quality item and well worth the wait. The page says that it is "Out of Stock", so you mighjt wish to contact them to see if and when they expect a new shipment of them into their company. In any case, the sword that you want is the 1796 British Heavy Cavalry Sabre.

I love those books!! Granted, Sharpe is probably a little too good, and triumphs in every situation, but...I still love Sharpe and Harper. I really enjoy the historical insights in each book. One great thing about them. At the end of each book the author (Richard Cornwell) has an historical note to explain which bits really happened and which bits were literary conveniences. That shows real respect for the reader in my opinion. Sharpe lives!!
