Shield fell off of a new to me knife, can I glue it back it?

I found one of the Boker american story knives in a pawn shop. I put the knife in the box with shield and when I took the knife out of the box at home the shield was gone. Found it yesterday inside the pen blade side of the knife. I could call the shop and ask to swap the knife out because they had two others like it. But I can't find my receipt and this is going to be a user so I am not really worried about it. Still, I would think a little two part epoxy would fix this. Am I right?

Yep, just use a dab of CA glue and let it sit for 30 minutes. It should be good.

Gel-type super glue is the normally recommended fix. It's pretty much what they use at the factory for the glued-in shields. Just be careful to use a very small amount so it doesn't squish out around the edges and mess up your scales, or worse, glue the knife to your hand.

Heck yeah you can!
As other s have mentioned the gel superglue works nice. I prefer thin ca glue used for gluing tires on rc cars. I typically keep some acetone handy whe doing this to deal with any errant glue. A small clamp and a piece of scrap leather to protect the knife helps too.

I used Superglue on the replacement case sent me when the shield fell out of my old red stockman. Prolly 8 years ago. No problems.

I had the same problem with a PUMA Solingen Stockman when it was new. I luckily found the shield in the depth of my pocket.

I used some super glue but I was unabel to adjust the shield correctly so the cat doesn´t look in the correct direction but I can live with it. :o

Everyone else has pretty much covered it. Two part epoxy will get it done with authority, but superglue will work just fine. I find superglue easier to work with (AKA for some reason I don't get it all over the place and end up gluing myself to something).

I used gel superglue to re-stick the shield on my Case 5344SS 'Red Shield' series stockman, seen alongside my 1970 5220 Peanut here. Knife was brand new and just delivered, and the shield literally dropped into my lap as I was inspecting it. Probably the easiest 'repair' I've done; took all of a minute or so, and no worries since.

I use brake cleaner on cue tip. Dries fast, but harsh. Just make sure it is good and dry before you glue.

Hmmm, don't have any brake cleaner. Guess acetone will have to do. Edit: It looks pretty clean in there though.

Ok, I have scraped and sanded both. Minimal sanding on the scale, though. What should I clean it with? Alcohol or acetone?

Professionally speaking, I greatly prefer acetone over alcohol for cleaning prior to painting or bonding.

Funny you should say that because I used acetone on a qtip to clean the shield and the scale. I left them both on the counter to dry overnight. Now where did I put my super glue?

I’ve heard that if you contact Case they will send replacement shields. Send them an email, good luck!
