Made in Taiwan since the time of the Ca. gold rush. Mainland China before that. Today only one man continues his four generation work making Shilin Cutters, Kuo the master. You have PM 9B.

Kuo Shilin Cutter. Notice the brass bale attached via brass pin thru the handle as this is a clue for Kuo's work.

I new you had one! I saw a old for sale thread for one that you posted....
I'm guessing you went to Taiwan?

My pleasure. I love this stuff.

The Shilin Cutters by Kuo are brilliant custom traditional knives worth a ransom. However, unlike many western knives, they don't always have a working kick. So close them carefully in order not to slam the cutting edge of the blade into the interior of the back of the knife. You might dull, roll or chip that incredible cutting edge.

Wow those are beautiful Oregon. I have never seen these before just now. I might have to hunt one down in the future if possible.

Wish the cost and availability of the authentic cutters were better but Rock Creek makes some models in this fashion .. the Saguaro with wood, Kobuk with leather, and Tortugas with leather and thumbstud

I've owned the Tortugas for a while only real gripes i have with it are the fit and finish of the leather slabs and when closed the knife has lots of square sharp edges. In hand it fits well and the mystery steel performs much like any chinese boker 440c knives i own. still considering getting the wood handled version since i like the overall style
