On many 4-blade scouts, a symmetrical shield will be centered!
There was a mixup at GEC, and a few knives broke those rules!!
Your "centered" whittler is fairly rare!!

There might only have been a dozen or so; a parts overrun that needed handles. Bill took the handles from another project to complete the knives!!

didnt know of a pony cut 488117 CC SFO, just saw some #38 made with pony cut covers in the same year.
Thanks for that comment JoKr!!waynorth then that would make this one rather special as it is the one you sent me as a QC replacement for the one I got from a dealer at the Queen show with either a nick or a mark on the blade.
