In traditional cutlery assembly, on a knife with a main blade, and an odd number of blades, the shield usually favors the "main" end!
On many 4-blade scouts, a symmetrical shield will be centered!
There was a mixup at GEC, and a few knives broke those rules!!
Your "centered" whittler is fairly rare!!;)

That one has gotten away from me!! If anyone has a picture, please post it!!
There might only have been a dozen or so; a parts overrun that needed handles. Bill took the handles from another project to complete the knives!!

didnt know of a pony cut 488117 CC SFO, just saw some #38 made with pony cut covers in the same year.

waynorth waynorth then that would make this one rather special as it is the one you sent me as a QC replacement for the one I got from a dealer at the Queen show with either a nick or a mark on the blade.
