Simple sheath - drop leg question

I've done some searching both here on the forum and out in the rest of the 'net but didn't find a real clear answer.
The answer might be painfully obvious but... I want to be sure it really is that simple.

I have several Kabar fixed blades in Kydex sheaths. The belt loops on the sheaths are wide nylon textile straps riveted to the sheaths. Placed within the loop is a 2" wide nylon two-aperture strap keeper/tensioner (like backpack fixturing) . It has the texturing for cinching straps down.

So- this is to make it easy to create a drop loop out of 2" webbing run thru this loop, right? (run two layers thru the apertures to ensure good friction fit) Or is there something else really clever it was included for?

got any pics ?

I need pics to help me see :)

"Slides" and "triglides" among other names depending on manufacturers. Yep, you can attach a 2 inch wide extender to it and then get some 1 inch straps for the two slots to attach it to your leg and minimize movement.

edit: original poster: You're right, their initial purpose was to act as an adjuster for two inch nylon - pack and shoulder straps. Someone had the clever idea to run them through sheath loops so the open/unused half can be used as an attachment point. You don't or probably can't use it the way it functions on a strap because I think the excess would head down towards the knife. With that said, if you come up with something that works for you then what works is what works. Yeah?

Thanks. That confirms my initial ideas about the part. I just haven't seen any pix of it being done nor any other use of the part.
Since I carry my big knife attached to my pack it's not something I need to explore but I may buy some webbing just to learn more.

Webbing and velcro would solve your problem. It would work the same way that drop leg holsters, pouches, and rigs work.
