I was talking to a buddy of mine, telling him I wanted a leather sewing machine. He gave me an old singer model 31-15 industrial sewing machine.

It is supposed to have an up-dated more powerful motor conversion, as it used to be a trendel (?) machine.

I know absolutely nothing about sewing machines and don't know if I should put the time into putting the machine in good working order or what the machine is capable of, if running correctly. Any help or information about this machine would be GREATLY appreciated. As always, TIA for any help. Teddy

It was the main stay for boot makers etc., for stitching the boot tops decorative stitching. It will also handle average chap and chink making very well. At about 1/4 inch thickness it's adequate but goes down hill quickly with anything much thicker. I have never owned one, but I did use one quite a lot at my buddy's boot and saddle shop. It's certainly worth restoring IFit doesn't run too much $. At about $1300 or so you could have a brand new Cobra 17l
