I have a Condor Inca that has a single hole towards the tip of the blade. What pupose does this serve?
Thanks,

Thanks gents for the info. Occasionally I see the same type hole on other brands and assumed it was there for a reason.

It actually is there for a reason.
It's so your blade makes that Kewl zip-zip-whoosh-whoosh sound when you wave it around.......;) :D

Spyderco puts their holes towards the back of the blade
so it doesn't make that Kewl zip-zip-whoosh-whoosh sound. :D

Maybe so it could hang on a nail or something? That's the best reason I can come up with.

First guess was the best. It's generally used for hanging the knife or tool up. When I make camp I hang up my knife with a nail in a tree so I can grab it to process firewood quickly. It's nice to hang them up so they don't sit in dirt or on wet ground and it's faster to access than keeping it a sheath. I have had a couple machetes or large choppers in the past that I have cut holes in for this purpose. I do also have a large, powerful magnet that I put on the nail to hang up knives that have no way to hang them easily.

But, I'm sure it is also a type of identifier for Condor, but they were not the first. I know old butchers used to hang their cleavers the same way. Probably came into being a long time before that, though.

Thanks Doug C, I knew there was a reason for that darn hole being there!
