I have a Benchmade 730 "Elishewitz" that I'd like to move the pocket-clip to the other side on (I'm a "lefty"), but I don't have the correct Torx driver to do this. Can someone please tell me the correct Torx driver that I need to get? (Yes, I know about the Benchmade "Blue Box" driver set, but I just need this ONE driver.).

I should have read past subject line it's a T-6 torx and the pivot screw is a T10. Sears has them for around $2.00 each . Home depot has a Husky tool #HD74502S that has bits for T4 through T15 for $5.95. I like the husky kit much better than the blue box Benchmade set and the Sears drivers. Larry

Larry,

Thanks, but I think I asked the wrong question, as I was looking for the size of the Torx driver to fit the pocket-clip screws, not the size of the screw itself.

Don't know the specifics for that knife as I said before. In general I have found that all I need is a T6 T8 and T10, and I can take apart just about knife. I am sure that there must be some odd ball ones out there using different sizes, but these are the most common in my experience.

Roger that. I got the same kit LarryM has and it's WAYYY too handy not to have. All the torx bits fit inside the handle, so it's easy to just throw in a tool box until you need it. If you routinely take apart and clean, tune up, etc. your folders, it's awesome.

For most Benchmades, I've always used a T6 to move the clip to where it should be and either a T9 (for most) or a T6 (for the 921) to adjust the pivot.

Larry and AntDog, that tool sounds perfect. Is that the Home Depot parts number or Husky's? I've been trying to search on it and I can't find it anywhere. Thanks.

Yeah Antster,

I need T-5 and T-4 (I think), Any place online? That looks like a Home Depot # to me...a little more info?

I'm with LarryM and AntDog--the Husky set is great (Blue Box bites big time). Here's a thread on the Husky.

I looked around online but counldn't find them anywhere. I'm sure they sell 'em at Home Depot. I took some pictures of mine but I can't get into my pic storage site to post them. If you want to take a look at the pics, send me an email and I'll send 'em your way.

Well, I guess I spoke too soon...

Just got the pics to upload.

Here's a pic with the cap off and all the bits shown:

Here's a pic of how the bits are stored. One bit in the front, and the others stored in the back of the tool:

Man, I swear...I'm a real dumb-ass sometimes. I went to Sears today, looking for the Torx drive, with no luck. Then I went to a Car Quest parts store...Still no luck. The problem is, I was looking for a T-4, and not the T-6 that I need.. (I guess its' a GOOD thing that neither place had a T-4 in stock.:p.).

So, it's back to Sears tomorrow to buy that T-6.

Get a T9 for the pivot, too. After your 10,000 cycling (which may have occured on the first day ;) ), you may need to back out the pivot, apply blue Loctite or wrap some teflon thread-sealing tape to the pin, and tighten back up to the tension that allows you the most flicking with the least play.

LarryM seems to think that it's the T-10 Torx for the pivot...Is there anyone who knows for SURE which one it is? (At least now I KNOW that it's a T-6 for the clip-screws.:).).

Pivot is indeed a T10. I bought a set from MCMelectronics.com for $4. It has T5-T10. The pivot is T10

Have Fun
