Anybody know of a company or an individual that produces a quality version of the Skean Dhu / Sgian Dubh other than Cold steel? I'm looking for something slightly more traditional looking than the cold steel knife while still being of quality construction.

Some of the very best I have seen were made by Vince Evans. The handles where carved by his wife Grace.

Tim Britton makes some real nice ones. I have admired his work for some time and he has been a maker since 1971!

Here is a link to his page on the Scottish Skean-Du: http://www.timbritton.com/skeandu.html

Tim does quality work and his scale selection is amazing.

Good luck in your quest!

You can also check out Himalayan Import's Sgian Dubh, dedicated to Rusty Slate. Just got one last week, an awesome fixed blade.

I'm not sure if you are looking for a fancy ornate knife or a utility, but talk to Christoff he owns Koyote knives and he makes some great traditional type knives

Folks, let's please adhere to our sub-forum guidelines on vendor links. Thank you.
